Description
Location: Amsterdam
Duration: 6 months
Start date: January/February 2027
Length: Fulltime (40h a week)
NOTE: YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN EDUCATION DURING THE ENTIRE INTERNSHIP TO BE CONSIDERED.
You will be part of EMEA Service Engineering, which sits under the Vehicle Software organization. Service Engineering is responsible for keeping our global vehicle fleet operating as intended – analyzing data to identify issues or trends, creating repair and diagnostic procedures for vehicle repair technicians, and developing software-based fixes which roll out Over-The-Air to vehicles. When a failure mode is unknown or new, Service Engineering get to the root cause and own issues through to resolution.
The internship focuses on diagnosing and resolving high severity issues affecting the vehicle thermal system. Specifically, the tasks will be to:
- Use fleet data to identify new issues affecting cabin HVAC and powertrain thermal operation
- Develop diagnostic methods to enable automated identification and tracking of issues
- Investigate root cause. This could be hardware, software or due to interfacing systems
- For issues which do require physical repair, develop software routines which repair the system faster
- Strategize software mitigations – prevent or fix the issue without any physical repair or component hardware changes
- Develop and test on-vehicle code changes, utilizing our dedicated engineering fleet
- Track the impact of these improvements as they make their way to customer vehicles
Responsibilities
- Detailed understanding of components involved in EV thermal systems
- Detailed understanding of large set data analysis, and how to accurately prove the impact of software/hardware changes
- Gain experience in developing diagnostic tools that are fast and accurate
- Learn how to conduct sufficient system and/or component level validation
Requirements
- Pursuing degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Computer Science
- Strong coding skills – primarily Python and C
- Level C1 in English (written and spoken)
- Understanding and relevant coursework within batteries, EV components and programming
