Software Engineering Intern
Job Overview:
The Arm Physical AI Solutions team in Munich is looking for a highly motivated software engineering student! Positions are in various teams working on projects across the software stack – from embedded software and firmware to complex application and AI workloads.
The internship duration is approximately 6 months (can be full-time or part-time), starting in 2027.
What you could be doing as a Software Engineering Intern:
- Contributing to reference firmware for Arm-based systems, with support from experienced engineers.
- Taking part in the development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and code review.
- Applying your existing programming knowledge while learning about embedded systems, hardware–software interaction, and dependable software development.
- Investigating existing solutions and exploring opportunities for improvement, automation, and better developer workflows.
- Working with both commercial and open-source technologies in a collaborative engineering team.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Are currently studying towards a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a related subject. We also welcome applicants from other backgrounds who can demonstrate relevant skills or experience.
- Have some practical experience with C and/or Rust through coursework, personal projects, or previous work.
- Are familiar with collaborative development practices and version control tools such as Git.
- Are enthusiastic about learning low-level firmware and understanding how software interacts with hardware.
Qualities that will help your application stand out:
- Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, Arm architectures, bare-metal programming, or an RTOS.
- Experience debugging software or hardware using tools such as GDB, JTAG, oscilloscopes, or logic analysers.
- Practical experience gained through university projects, personal projects, competitions, hackathons, internships, or open-source contributions.
- An analytical and collaborative approach, with curiosity, clear communication, and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
