Description

At Tesla, we’re accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy by building cutting-edge systems that power the future of transportation. We’re looking for a highly motivated software engineer with strong server-side expertise and full-stack capabilities to join a team shaping the next generation of tools for modeling and testing actuators in Optimus and electric motors in our vehicles.

You’ll work on high-impact systems that demand performance, scalability, and reliability—where every line of code contributes to faster innovation and safer, smarter vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full product lifecycle of a suite of desktop and deployed tools used for powertrain modeling, simulation, and optimization.
  • Design and implement robust, automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enable fast, reliable, and secure builds, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with domain experts (powertrain engineers, modeling teams) to translate technical requirements into high-quality, user-focused software.
  • Architect and build scalable backend services (Python/FastAPI) and frontend interfaces (React/TypeScript) for tooling that supports real-time data analysis and visualization.
  • Champion product quality through automated testing, observability, documentation, and peer code reviews.
  • Leverage AI-powered coding agents to accelerate development, while maintaining full ownership of architectural integrity, code quality, and long-term system health

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • Proven experience building and scaling backend services using Python (FastAPI or similar frameworks)
  • Strong understanding of modern CI/CD practices, with hands-on experience in GitHub Actions
  • Proficiency with SQL databases (MSSQL experience is a plus)
  • Solid knowledge of frontend technologies—JavaScript, React, or TypeScript
  • Experience with Git and Agile/Scrum development workflows
  • Fluent in English, with strong communication and collaboration skills

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience building desktop applications using frameworks like Tauri, Electron, or similar
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
