As a key member of a small and versatile team, you design, test, deploy and maintain software solutions.

Android is the most popular computing platform in the world with 2.5B+ users, approximately 4 billion apps across 2M developers.In the Mobile Threat Analysis Platform team (MTAP), our mission is to keep Android app users safe from mobile malware and abuse.

As a software engineer in the team, you will work on building systems and infrastructure to protect Android users from security and privacy threats.

  • Design and build automated static program analysis frameworks at Google scale

  • Design and build secure and helpful code exploration based reverse engineering tools

  • Research and propose new ideas to detect trending malware and abusive apps using static analysis

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in static program analysis, compilers, or security.
  • Experience with malware analysis, threat or abuse detection.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience in security and privacy.
  • Exceptional engineering capabilities.
