What you'll doPHY Management team is responsible for the development of the RU (Radio Unti) software for Viasat’s upcoming standards based global LEO NTN network. In addition, the team is also responsible for automated updating, configuration, and monitoring of various SAN components in our existing global Ka band network. Team member responsibilities are to design and implement new features as needed, regularly maintain and update the code base, maintaining applications in Viasat's production networks in a devops model. Team members regularly interact with embedded systems and will need to work closely with the Programmable Logic team and NTN RAN vendor teams in order to support features and required configurations for new devices that are in use.
This is a site‑based role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five‑day workweek.
The day-to-day• Use your experience in O-RAN based RU M-plane development and integration of same with other internal RU components
- Integration with other network components (DU, SMO, other SAN/network management applications)
- Design and Implement management applications for Configuring/Updating/Monitoring HW systems
- Maintain and automate CI/CD pipelines for build/testing/deployments
- Support production & lab environments aligned with team’s responsibility
- Update and maintain existing production applications and networks
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3- 5 years of experience working with O-RAN and 3GPP technology
- Experience with O-RAN based RU development and integration (C/U/S/M-planes).
- Very good understanding of O-RAN fronthaul/M-plane specifications
- Demonstrated experience in Network programming and embedded environments
- Proficiency with NetConf, YANG, JSON
- Experience integrating multi-vendor SW (including Open source)
- Used technology/languages include Docker, Kubernetes, Golang, Python, Github Actions, Jenkins
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident required
• Experience working with O-RAN SW provider focusing on 3GPP, O-RAN C/U/S/M-plane development
- Practical CI/CD/devops experience
- Strong software debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Network programming and Embedded Systems experience
- Good understanding of multithreading and OS concepts
$140,500.00 - $221,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $174,000.00- $261,000.00/ annually
