Software Engineer III, Security/Privacy

The team is responsible for a core component of Google Cloud's Zero Trust security model. Zero trust security is a security model that operates on the principle of "never trust, always verify." It eliminates implicit trust by requiring continuous authentication and authorization for every access request, regardless of whether the user or device is inside or outside the organization's network.

Responsibilities
- Write product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience building software for data privacy or security (e.g., identity and access management).
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
- Experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Golang).
- Experience with software development including design, coding, testing, and debugging.
- Experience with cloud security, cloud Identity, cybersecurity or distributed computing, and cloud security concepts and technologies.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services. Experience with security protocols and technologies.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles. Experience with OAuth 2.0.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and runtimes (e.g., k8s, Cloud Run, Load Balancers).
