The Role You'll Play

Playlist builds software for the wellness and services economy. Our platforms include Mindbody for fitness and wellness studios, Booker for appointment-based businesses, and Kite for large multi-location franchises, with more verticals on the way. Tens of thousands of businesses run their day-to-day operations on our products.

As a Software Engineer III on this team, you’ll help build the outbound marketing side of Playlist's CRM and Marketing platform — the tools our customers use to stay in touch with their clients and bring them back. That includes:

  • Marketing campaigns
  • Automated lifecycle journeys
  • Re-engagement and retention automation
  • Audience and subscriber management

Right now, much of this runs on a third-party marketing platform. We’re building those capabilities in-house, starting with a customer segmentation engine that lets businesses define and target audiences from their own data. There’s a lot to build, and we’re hiring engineers to make it happen.

What You'll Do

  • Build and ship production code for services behind campaigns, journeys, and audience management
  • Develop and test APIs, ensuring customer and subscriber records stay in sync through robust data pipelines
  • Add features to segmentation and targeting tools, while fixing bugs and reviewing pull requests
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and senior engineers to shape solutions from well-defined tickets to larger system components
  • Handle production issues with the team, contributing to reliability and resilience
  • Grow into ownership of larger pieces of the system as you gain familiarity

Experience You Bring

  • Strong coding mindset: you care about writing great code and solving the right problems
  • Senior-level SaaS experience: building and operating large-scale applications
  • Proficiency with languages like C#/.NET and TypeScript/JavaScript
  • API design expertise and experience with microservice architecture
  • Observability familiarity with tools like New Relic or Kibana
  • Deep SQL knowledge and relational data modeling skills
  • Agile mindset with strong grasp of software development lifecycle practices
  • Ability to navigate complexity, assess tradeoffs, and execute with confidence
  • Excellent communicator who brings others along and helps ideas stick

Technologies You Could Be Working With

  • Languages: C# and .NET / ASP.NET, React/Next.js/TypeScript
  • Data: PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora (Npgsql), Microsoft SQL Server, DynamoDB, EDW (Snowflake), Redis (AWS ElastiCache), FluentMigrator
  • Architecture: Microservices on AWS including event driven (SNS, SQS, Lambda, EKS, Aurora, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, STS), with CDC pipelines and GraphQL
  • Monitoring: New Relic, NLog, CloudWatch Logs
  • This list is here to show how we work today. We do not expect you to have used every technology on it.
