Software Engineer III, Fuchsia Subsystem and Connectivity
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
Fuchsia is a modern, open source operating system that is simple, secure, updatable, and performant. It’s a general purpose OS, designed to power an ecosystem of hardware and software, and provides core operating system functions like system resource management, a driver framework, and software abstractions.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust test automation pipelines and host-driven testing integrations using Python, Rust, and C++.
- Partner directly with Fuchsia platform driver engineers (WLAN, USB, Battery/Power) to define test strategies, author automated CI/CQ tests, and shift test validation earlier in the development lifecycle.
- Improve multi-device test execution, stabilize physical hardware testbeds in labs, and drive test flake rates asymptotically toward zero.
- Integrate and leverage AI-assisted test authoring, automated failure triaging, and agentic diagnostics workflows to accelerate release velocity.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python/C++) .
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related technical field.
- Experience with host-driven test frameworks (e.g. Mobly).
- Experience with low-level OS internals, driver interfaces, or IPC mechanisms (such as Protos/gRPC).
- Experience with developer tooling, test triage automation, or AI/ML-assisted development workflows.
- Domain expertise in hardware communications/connectivity protocols (WLAN 802.11, Bluetooth, USB, Power/Battery management).
