The mission of the XR Developer team is to make it easy for developers to create rich XR apps. We ensure developers have all the tools necessary to painlessly develop XR applications; independent of the device the app runs on (glasses, headsets, phones). This work includes building (or extending) libraries/frameworks/engines/tools to improve the developer experience as well as enabling low-to-no-cost porting/compatibility of existing apps into the XR platform.

Specifically, the XR AI Developer Solutions team enables the Android XR developer ecosystem to build rich, spatially-aware, and Gemini-connected XR application experiences using technologies like MCP, A2UI, and Android AppFunctions.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

Creation of vertical model context protocol (MCP) tools for agentic experiences that shine on XR devices.
Improve and customize existing MCP integrations for XR device form factors and experiences.
Create new frameworks to help XR developers navigate user journeys that bridge Gemini integrations with Android XR application experiences.
Collaborate closely with the Gemini and Android teams to create new capabilities for Android XR developers.
Collaborate closely with Android XR AI researchers to bring new AI capabilities to Android XR developers.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience programming in Java, Kotlin or C++.
2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
2 years of experience with Android application development.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
3 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
