What You Will Do
- Architect & Build: Design and ship scalable, high-availability solutions that power exclusive benefits and perks for a global user base.
- Navigate Technical Ambiguity: Lead the charge on complex technical problems, weighing critical trade-offs and aligning cross-functional teams on the best path forward.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner closely with Product Managers and Designers to transform ambitious visions into tangible product features.
- Raise the Bar: Write clean, high-performance code and uphold gold standards for testing, coverage, and system reliability.
- Drive Excellence: Continuously improve engineering culture through better monitoring, on-call practices, and streamlined operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of full-time professional software engineering experience.
- Technical Depth: Expertise in one or more object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python, or C++).
- Mindset: Proven track record as a fast learner and "go-getter" with a willingness to push beyond your comfort zone.
- Backend Proficiency: High proficiency in Golang or Java.
- System Complexity: Comfortable building and maintaining highly distributed systems.
- Ownership & Velocity: A strong se@nse of ownership and a history of shipping high-quality features on schedule in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and guide technical strategy.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex technical jargon into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Data Savvy: Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Hive) to inform technical and product decisions.
Responsibilities
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $171,000 per year - USD $190,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
