Software Engineer, Core Product
Front is the customer operations platform built for B2B complexity, keeping every team, tool, and customer conversation in sync so companies can scale without losing connection. Others handle simple interactions. Front handles the coordination and context behind complex B2B customer relationships. Over 9,000 companies, including Uber Freight, Navan, and Stripe, rely on Front because it's the only one that can run the operational layer that makes customer-facing work actually succeed.
Backed by Sequoia Capital and Salesforce Ventures, Front has raised $204M from leading venture capital firms and independent investors including top executives at Atlassian, Okta, Qualtrics, Zoom, and PagerDuty. Front has received numerous Great Place to Work accolades, including Top Places to Work by USA Today 2025, Y Combinator's list of Top Companies in 2023, #4 on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in the Bay Area™ ,Inc. Magazine's 2022 Best Workplaces list, and Forbes Best Startup Employers 2022 List.
The Core Product Experience (CPX) team owns the heart of the Front application where frontline users triage and route conversations, collaborate with teammates, and craft high-quality replies. CPX's mission is to ensure that frontline users can work more efficiently, with higher quality, and a happier day-to-day experience. The team's scope is broad, and supports multiple top company initiatives, such as new ICPs and our Copilot feature adoption. CPX partners closely with other pods across Engineering to deliver high-impact initiatives. As Front continues to invest in AI-powered workflows, CPX is at the center of the product strategy.
We're looking for a Software Engineer who helps shape what we build, leads delivery through ambiguity, and sets a high bar for engineering craft. You will work closely with Product and Design to define solutions, work through scope, risks, and open questions, make thoughtful tradeoffs, and ship experiences that are technically excellent and delightful to use.
We're a collaborative team that values experimentation, quick decisions, and a feedback-first culture. We care deeply about code quality, hold ourselves accountable, and take real pride in the team we've built.
What will you be doing?
- Implement end-to-end delivery of high-impact, complex initiatives. Own technical execution from problem framing, decision making, and scoping through implementation, launch, and iteration — across Front's stack.
- Drive technical direction across the stack. Influence architecture, API design, and performance strategy for high-traffic, distributed workflows like inbox triage.
- Partner deeply with Product and Design. Collaborate early to shape requirements, identify risks, surface open questions, propose alternatives, and align on tradeoffs. Communicate clearly and proactively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Raise the bar for quality and maintainability. Improve testing, observability, and engineering standards across frontend and backend. Reduce regressions and enable faster iteration through better tooling and code health.
- Grow others and strengthen the team. Give and receive feedback well, provide mentorship and constructive code review, share best practices, and help create a collaborative, low-ego engineering culture.
What we're looking for
- Strong fullstack experience, comfortable working across systems, stacks, and distributed systems rather than a single layer.
- A track record of delivering large projects and complex work in a timely manner.
- Experience collaborating closely with Product and Design to work through scope, risks, and open questions before and during delivery.
- An agile mindset; you’re comfortable learning new technologies, adapting quickly, and doing what it takes to ship when the situation calls for it.
What skills and experience do you need?
- 4+ years of professional experience building complex, production-grade fullstack applications, including high-volume, real-time systems at scale.
- Deep proficiency with modern fullstack technologies such as React/TypeScript, ElasticSearch, Redis, and AWS.
- Demonstrated technical leadership: ****you’ve led projects, driven alignment, and delivered outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
- A strong ownership mindset: you take responsibility for outcomes end-to-end, including reliability, maintainability, and post-launch iteration.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills: you articulate tradeoffs clearly and work effectively with cross-functional partners.
- Pragmatic problem-solving: you understand tradeoffs and value shipping iteratively without sacrificing long-term quality.
What makes this role exciting?
- Your work is the product. CPX is where users spend hours every day. Improvements you lead are felt immediately by thousands of teams worldwide.
- Real ownership and influence. You’ll help define the roadmap with Product and Design and lead the technical approach to delivering it.
- Diverse, interesting challenges. From real-time messaging to rich text composition to multi-platform experiences, you’ll work across a wide range of frontend problems.
- Shape the future of customer communication. Front is investing heavily in AI-powered experiences, and CPX is where those bets come to life.
