As a Software Development Manager at Ring, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers working on embedded software and firmware used in Ring and Blink devices. A successful candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

You will work closely with other platform, hardware, operations, user-space, and quality assurance teams.

Ring and Blink devices sit on millions of front doors and in millions of homes. Your team builds and sustains the firmware behind those cameras and doorbells: the code that wakes a battery-powered device, streams video over wireless links, and updates itself in the field without a visit from a technician. Your decisions reach customers directly, from what ships in the next over-the-air release to when a rollout is stopped.

Key responsibilities:
  • Ownership of the overall systems development life cycle.
  • Execution against project plans and timely delivery of committed results.
  • Management of day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Management of departmental resources, staffing, and mentoring.
  • Building, enhancing and maintaining an engineering team.
  • Working closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical designs.
  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of software frameworks for development.
Key job responsibilities
  • Lead a team of ~12 firmware engineers in Gdańsk delivering embedded software for Ring and Blink cameras and doorbells, from feature development to sustaining releases of products already in customers' homes.
  • Own the release train for your products: scope, schedule, OTA rollout decisions, rollback calls, and the quality metrics behind them (device offline rate, live view success, reboots, battery).
  • Drive the convergence of our device firmware onto a common platform and codebase, and the handover of launched products into sustaining.
  • Drive AI-native engineering in the team: own the adoption of coding agents and AI review tooling, set the targets (share of changes produced and reviewed with AI, cycle time, defect escape rate) and report progress to leadership.
  • Hire, develop and retain engineers; set clear expectations, run regular 1:1s and growth conversations, build a bench of senior engineers.
  • Partner with product, TPM, QA, cloud and hardware teams in Poland and the US; represent the team to senior leadership with clear written status.
