Within Optics Subsystems, the System-on-Chip (SoC) team architects, designs, and tests advanced ASICs for optical modules. Our focus is on extending optical reach and transmission capacity while optimizing power and space requirements, leveraging the latest chip technologies to support the data center and AI revolution

Salary range:

34,491 -77,884 Euro

Qualifications

Must have:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electronic Engineering, Microelectronics, Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge and practical experience about ASIC and FPGA design and verification, respective implementation tools (Synopsys, Mentor, Cadence), the related design languages (VHDL, Verilog, System Verilog), script programming (TCL, Python) and overall development environment and methodologies (e.g. UVM)
  • Knowledge about coherent optical transmission systems and their components, transmission theory and algorithms, forward error correction, modulation formats and their implementation
  • Basic understanding of firmware development, software structures and methods (C/C++, development of drivers and APIs for the design blocks)
  • Good communication skills, fluent written and spoken English (required), with a strong interest to collaborate with international partners.

It would be beneficial if you also had:

  • Inter-disciplinary and inter-cultural collaboration experience
  • Knowledge in LINUX-based systems IT infrastructure management
  • Knowledge of Transmission protocols adopted in Communication industry

     

Responsibilities

As an ASIC engineer working on the architecture and development of advanced sub-micron devices, you'll face technically challenging tasks that also require strong teamwork and communication skills. You'll be an integral part of an international development team, where collaboration and shared problem-solving are key to designing system-on-chip devices for coherent transmission systems. 

  • Design part of complex ASICs and IP for optical communication systems, implementing advanced signal processing algorithms to enhance system performance and efficiency
  • Oversee RTL design, verification, and synthesis processes to deliver high-performance, low-power ASIC solutions
  • Analyze and optimize power consumption by leveraging the latest CMOS technology nodes
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in ASIC synthesis methodologies
  • Collaborate with global, cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, hardware, software, firmware, and test engineering, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions

Salary Range: Italy salary range: 34,491 -77,884 Euro *Incentive range: 10% - 12.5% *National Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Telecommunications Sector” (CCNL Telecomunicazioni).
