Snr. Capacity Design Manager - AMER, Network and Cabling Decom
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Capacity Design Engineering (CDE) Manager for the Americas to join our Network & Cable Decommissioning (NCD) team. In this role, you will lead a team of Capacity Design Engineers responsible for basket tray capacity assessment, augmentation design, and forward demand planning across AWS data centers in the AMER region.
You will work directly with engineering, networking, and infrastructure program teams to ensure physical layer capacity exists ahead of demand — enabling rack landings, network refreshes, and site lifecycle programs to execute without constraint. You will also drive tooling adoption, establish regional standards, and build the engineering practice that connects cable pathway visibility to business planning.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead a team of Capacity Design Engineers delivering basket tray assessments, augmentation designs, and remediation projects across AMER data center sites.
- Own the AMER CDE demand pipeline: track project volume, engineer utilization, and forward capacity need; flag overload risk early and adjust resourcing accordingly.
- Partner with Site Turndown, DC Refresh, Site Read Model, and Network Fabric teams to position CDE engagement ahead of program NBDs — not reactively after constraints surface.
- Drive adoption of CDE tooling (measuring tools, CIPP milestones, basket capacity dashboards) across the AMER team; close gaps between field data and planning systems.
- Define and maintain CDE SOPs, audit standards, and quality criteria for the AMER region; ensure consistency with global CDE practice.
- Champion basket tray capacity as a proactive business input — translate field findings into forward demand signals that feed cable decom, vendor planning, and CapEx forecasting.
- Manage and develop a team of engineers; own hiring, performance, and career development within the AMER CDE function.
- Partner with CPI and FRE to ensure basket augmentation projects are accurately scoped, funded via CARs, and delivered on schedule.
- Travel 30% or more to conduct site reviews, support complex augmentation projects, and coordinate with vendors and field teams.
