Description

The Engineering Team of Tesla Infrastructure is looking for a Sr. Site/Landscape Architect to join our organization. The ideal candidate should be able to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines, multi-task effectively, and thrive in fast-paced, large-scale, and complex industrial projects.

This is a full-time position based in Houston, (TX) that will support projects in the area and across multiple Tesla’s locations in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Perform feasibility and techno-economic studies on Tesla’s sites and campuses, including access, parking, truck yards, pedestrian routes, vehicular circulation, landscape, and exterior amenities to facilitate leadership decision-making
  • Collaborate with architecture, civil, landscape, lighting, security, and utilities teams, and liaise with manufacturing, construction, logistics, EHS, and facilities stakeholders to capture operational requirements and deliver fully coordinated site construction documents
  • Prepare site drawings, perform calculations (grading/drainage interfaces, parking counts, pedestrian and vehicular capacity, accessibility, fire-access geometry), and review construction documents and specifications for projects of various sizes and complexity
  • Typical scope includes retrofitting or reconfiguring existing campuses, designing new sites or site expansions, and coordinating building additions with surrounding exterior work
  • Design and coordinate pedestrian and vehicular circulation: employee and visitor entries, truck and trailer routing, emergency access, ADA/accessible routes, wayfinding, bike and micromobility facilities, and conflict-free interfaces with manufacturing and logistics operations
  • Design exterior areas and amenities — plazas, courtyards, outdoor break spaces, screening, fencing, lighting, furniture, and landscape — so they support daily operations, safety, and Tesla campus standards
  • Collaborate with the estimating team on test-fits, site layouts, and bills of quantities (paving, landscape, site furnishings, lighting, utilities, hardscape) to support construction cost estimates and project funding

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years’ work experience in designing large manufacturing, industrial, institutional or commercial campuses and masterplans
  • Experience of at least two $100M+ projects, (preferably design-build). Registered Architect is preferred but not required
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles and applicable codes, design guides and standards related to the discipline
  • Must prioritize and manage heavy workload on multiple projects to ensure high quality and productivity
  • Ability to develop architectural deliverables using state-of-the-art 3D modeling software. Revit, proficiency is a mandatory requirement for the role
  • Collaborating with other discipline leaders to develop and improve project workflows and standards to ensure that deliverables are fully coordinated
