Description

The Self Perform Mechanical Sheet Metal General Foreman is the bridge between Superintendent planning and Foreman execution for sheet metal and HVAC ductwork scope. This role owns weekly work action plans, material readiness, multi-crew coordination, and productivity reporting verification across assigned sheet metal crews. The General Foreman sets Foremen up for success with clear scope, drawings, and manpower; validates work package and task code alignment; and drives safety, quality, and productivity outcomes one week ahead of the work front. This role will be Reno local and will require travel to multiple job sites throughout the Reno Region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop weekly work action plans for assigned sheet metal / ductwork scope that support the Superintendent's 3-week look-ahead (what we are doing Monday through Friday)
  • Set up Sheet Metal Foremen for daily tasks with clear scope, install sheets, fab tickets, and work package requirements; confirm Foreman understanding before work starts
  • Assign and reallocate manpower across multiple sheet metal crews to hit daily and weekly goals; coordinate shared work areas and system handoffs
  • Validate work package scope and task code alignment before assigning work; confirm Foremen complete accurate hours and installed quantity entries for all crews
  • Drive material readiness: perform non-bulk material takeoffs with Foremen, coordinate with logistics/procurement, and ensure duct, fittings, hangers, and accessories are available before task start
  • Review and sign off PTPs; maintain safe work practices across crews and support hot work / area readiness with Superintendents and Safety
  • Identify field conflicts and RFI needs; communicate gating issues to Superintendent and PM; follow through on RFI answers and field execution of responses
  • Bring QC into systems nearing completion; walk drawings/P&IDs with QC and Foremen; support punchlist drive-down and turnover readiness for duct systems
  • Provide constructability, duration, and productivity feedback to Superintendent and PM; support work package field validation and quantity verification
  • Mentor and develop Sheet Metal Foremen and leads for expanded responsibility; provide backup to the Superintendent as needed. When working GF, lead a crew and still hit multi-crew coordination goals

Requirements

  • 7+ years of sheet metal / mechanical construction experience, including at least 3 years as a Foreman or General Foreman leading multiple ductwork crews on industrial or large commercial projects
  • Deep knowledge of industrial HVAC ductwork installation, SMACNA standards, seismic support systems, fab ticket workflows, and multi-trade coordination
  • Proven ability to convert look-ahead schedules into executable weekly plans with material, manpower, and drawing readiness
  • Experience verifying field productivity reporting (hours and quantities) and coaching Foremen on accurate daily entry against assigned task codes
  • Strong blueprint and work package literacy: ability to check install sheets and scope drawings for missing information and escalate constructability issues early
  • Demonstrated multi-crew leadership, conflict resolution, and clear escalation to Superintendents and Project Managers
  • OSHA 30 preferred (OSHA 10 minimum). Comfortable working multi-site, 10-12 hour field environments with physical walkdowns of active construction areas
  • Track record developing foremen and leads; bias toward planning one week ahead while staying plugged into day-of field conditions
