Setup Technician – JD

The Role

The Injection Set-Up Technician position is responsible for processing and setting up and starting up of injection  molding equipment.  Completes other duties as assigned.  

In this role you will:

  • Starts up and cycle production equipment, ensuring that equipment is properly adjusted to produce acceptable parts within production standards established by the company 
  • Periodically checks quality of parts produced 
  • Completes the set-up schedule and cycle as according to plan 
  • Ensures all products comply with all Quality requirements and are handled according to established procedures 
  • Completes first piece inspection process 
  • Follows all safety processes and procedures 
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities such as 6s, Kaizen events, etc. 
  • Removes molds and inspects, cleans and repairs before storing 
  • Maintains all secondary and auxiliary equipment from the press area 

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • HS degree or GED 
  • 1-2 years exposure to Plastic injection Molding, basic mathematics, systematic approach to trouble-shooting and problem-solving approach 
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions 
  • Ability to perform math computations and computer data entry 
  • Demonstrate problem solving and trouble shooting skills 
  • Ability to learn and operate related molding equipment (i.e. MTC, Robotic fixtures, etc) 
  • Focuses on key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness and product/system quality 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; climb a ladder up to 15 ft, and walk and stand during entire shift 
  • Ability to detect quality defects

  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area 
  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment 
  • Performing duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures 
  • Communicating potential hazards immediately to supervisor
