Senior Technical Program Manager, Android Core OS

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Framework Foundations (FF) team is responsible for critical pieces in Android frameworks as well as the overall performance of the Android platform.

As a Technical Program Manager working on the FF team, you will work closely with product management and engineering teams in Android as well as partner closely with Pixel, Search, OEM Partners, and many more to impact our product roadmap and influence the performance of all Android devices.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $240000 - $333000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Drive measurable program performance gains correlated to execution velocity.
• Be a change advocate responsible for initiating and leading multiple organizations through pivots needed to address shifts in business trends and priorities.
• Lead strategic planning framework for a complex program portfolio including direct influence over resourcing decisions, planning cadence, and planning stakeholders.
• Act as an executive leader within the Android Technical Program Manager (TPM) organization: mentor, coach, and elevate the technical capabilities of L4–L6 TPMs and cross-functional teammates.
• Partner closely with the release team to drive features into the yearly/quarterly release cycle.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 10 years of experience in program management.
  
• 5 years of experience directing multidisciplinary engineering portfolios in operating systems, mobile platforms, or systems infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

• 10 years of experience managing complex cross-functional or cross-team projects.
• 5 years of experience leading large-scale, cross-functional technical programs or platform software initiatives.
• Experience delivering complex operating system, platform, or systems software features through complete product release lifecycles. Demonstrated experience evaluating system-level trade-offs.
• Experience defining, analyzing, and acting upon fleet-wide device telemetry.
• Experience collaborating with external ecosystem partners, such as device OEMs, SoC silicon vendors, or major third-party application developers.
• Proven track record of influencing executive leadership (VP/Director level) and executive technical leaders to build consensus on strategic technical directions.
