Our Tax Team at Akamai is a key strategic partner to the business, supporting global operations through expert tax compliance, reporting, and high-value advisory. With a reach spanning more than 30 countries, we actively identify growth opportunities, manage risk, and collaborate with top-tier external advisers to optimize our global processes. We are currently looking for a Tax Analyst to join our team on a maternity leave backfill assignment. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to investigate US state tax laws contributing to both state and local requirements for United States sales, use, and personal property tax. Being part of a highly trained team and working alongside elite external partners, you will become a trusted advisor to our leadership and manage key tax areas as their own business. To thrive in this environment, you bring a strong desire for continuous learning, staying ahead of evolving business practices and keeping up to date with constant changes in taxation.

As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing Excel spreadsheets and work papers to support sales/use and personal property returns
  • Liaising with external tax service providers, to ensure compliance and perform tax audits
  • Interacting with tax authorities to resolve notices and/or requests for information.
  • Analyzing tax accounts and review necessary reconciliations.
  • Interacting with other Finance teams and providing expertise to support financial operations in relation to tax requirements
  • Coordinating electronic funds transfers (EFTs) to pay taxes that are due
  • Reviewing exemption certificates to ensure the company only plays sales tax to the proper jurisdictions
  • Adopting and contributing to best practice guidelines to drive continuous improvements to processes
     

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 3-5 years of experience in US indirect tax compliance/consulting process
  • Possess solid analytical and quantitative capabilities with an ability to provide data-backed analysis
  • Be able to create clear and concise documentation and work-papers
  • Have very good communication and writing skills in English
  • Have analytical mindset, with the ability to provide data-driven insights.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Display an ethical approach, show integrity, personal drive, and be able to uphold Akamai values
  • Be good at managing priorities and multiple tasks to reach deadlines
