The Core Bring Up team is the vanguard of Pixel's hardware-software co-design. We build and deliver the critical low-level software infrastructure, tools, and platforms that turn raw silicon into fully functioning, high-performance consumer devices. We collaborate closely with SoC Architecture, Hardware Design, Firmware, Kernel, Android System, and Validation teams to make Pixel Software pre- and post-silicon bring-up seamless, predictable, and fast.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Act as the primary software lead for Pixel Software for new silicon programs, driving end-to-end software readiness, execution, and risk mitigation across pre- and post-silicon milestones.
  • Drive software readiness to achieve production-stack Boot-to-Home on early silicon.
  • Partner with Emulation/Simulation teams to define software requirements and deliver stable platforms for early development.
  • Lead wafer and Silicon on Desk bring-up in the lab, delivering CDT (Configuration Data Table), partition tables, hardware documentation, and Flashstation/flashing tooling support.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with relevant work, including architecture, design, development, testing and deployment for Android BSP, Linux device drivers, Linux kernel modules.
  • Experience in Firmware development (RTOS, bare metal).
