We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
What you'll doViasat is developing a 3GPP NTN standards-based Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Network to support standard based devices across key use cases such as Direct to Device, Automobile and UAVs.
RAN Apps team is responsible for the development of an ecosystem of AI native, Cloud hosted intelligent applications to configure, monitor and optimize the performance of Viasat’s LEO based satellite network especially that of the RAN subsystem in it, and integrate the ecosystem with the complete satellite ground network. These applications interface with various components of O-RAN based NTN network – RU, DU, CU, RIC, SMO etc.
Team member responsibilities are end-to-end ownership of one or more intelligent RAN applications, from requirements refining to design, development and system integration.
This is a site‑based role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five‑day workweek.
The day-to-day- Refine initial requirements through brainstorming with peers in the team and external stakeholders.

- Develop test plans covering configuration, performance, stability, interoperability
- Implement the design with the support of AI productivity tools
- Test the applications at various level – unit, module, subsystem, system
- Integration with other network components (DU, CU, RIC, SMO)
- Maintain and automate CI/CD pipelines for build/testing/deployments
- Support production & lab environments aligned with team’s responsibility
- Update and maintain existing production applications and networks

- 6-10 years of hands-on experience building and operating large-scale cloud-native, microservices-based, event-driven, distributed applications.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts including scalability, fault tolerance, high availability, resiliency, consistency models, eventual consistency, and idempotent processing.
- Experience designing data-intensive systems using relational and NoSQL databases.
- Deep understanding of event-driven architectures, including asynchronous messaging, event streaming, pub/sub patterns, and event sourcing concepts.
- Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-to-service communication patterns in distributed environments.
- Proven ability to build highly reliable and observable production systems, including monitoring, logging, tracing, disaster recovery, and incident resolution.
