We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong engineering foundation, a high degree of ownership, and a passion for solving complex distributed systems and cloud infrastructure problems. In this role, you will work across the software stack, collaborate with engineers and partner teams, and drive technical solutions from design through implementation, deployment, and operation. You will have opportunities to solve ambiguous engineering problems, influence technical direction, improve engineering systems and processes, and mentor other engineers while building deep expertise in Azure and sovereign cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and operate highly available, scalable, secure, and observable cloud services.
  • Drive technical design and implementation for complex engineering problems, evaluating architectural approaches and trade-offs.
  • Drive features and projects end-to-end, from requirements and design through deployment and production readiness.
  • Build deep domain expertise in cloud infrastructure, global deployment technologies, and sovereign cloud engineering.
  • Collaborate with partner teams to define technical solutions, resolve dependencies, and deliver cross-service capabilities.
  • Improve service reliability and operational excellence through automation, monitoring, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices through design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, Java, C++ 
    • OR equivalent experience. 

Other Requirements:

  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.   • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and delivering production services.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience driving complex or ambiguous engineering projects from design through delivery.
  • Deep experience with software design, implementation, testing, and debugging.
  • Demonstrated ability to build reliable, maintainable, and well-tested software.
  • Advanced collaboration and communication skills across engineering teams and disciplines.
  • Ability to mentor other engineers and provide technical leadership.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality solutions that create customer value.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
