Job Overview

The Software (CE-SW) group is responsible for developing and improving the software ecosystem around Arm’s next-generation architectures and systems.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join a small team of AI subject-matter experts. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will work hands-on with engineering teams across CE-SW to understand their workflows, identify valuable opportunities for AI enablement, and implement practical solutions that improve engineering effectiveness.

You will deliver work with minimal guidance, contribute to larger and more complex initiatives, and act as an advisor and peer reviewer for colleagues. The emphasis is on solving real engineering problems and demonstrating measurable improvements—not simply increasing adoption of AI tools.

The role may be based in either our Cambridge or Manchester office.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with software engineering teams to understand their workflows, constraints and opportunities for improvement using AI.
  • Design, build, test and maintain prototypes, integrations, tools and production-quality examples that apply AI to software engineering workflows.
  • Contribute data and analysis to the group-level AI enablement dashboard and help communicate progress and lessons learned.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, guidance and reusable examples that enable engineering teams to apply successful approaches consistently.
  • Apply relevant security, data-protection, intellectual-property and responsible-AI requirements when designing and implementing solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong, current software engineering skills, with experience designing, implementing, testing and maintaining software, including continuous integration concepts.
  • Practical experience applying generative AI or AI-assisted engineering tools to software development workflows.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate options and select an appropriate solution when established procedures do not fully apply.
  • Experience reviewing technical work and providing clear, constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to select an appropriate communication channel and tailor information to the audience.

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience

  • Practical experience with Codex, OpenAI APIs or comparable AI coding and agent platforms.
  • Fluent in at least one of Python, Go, Bash scripting/programming languages.
  • Experience with GitLab, Gerrit and Artifactory.
  • Sound understanding of embedded software development in C/C++.
  • Experience supporting colleagues through technical guidance, peer review, mentoring or knowledge-sharing activities.

In Return

Joining Arm means being part of an elite team that is high-reaching and determined to achieve outstanding results. You will collaborate with industry leaders and innovators, contributing to flawless service builds that improve our global operations. We provide an encouraging and inclusive environment that encourages continuous learning and professional growth.
