Position Overview
Join this exciting team to build and lead the way in global statutory reporting for Mastercard. Manage a team of finance professionals supporting the external audits of Mastercard companies worldwide. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a finance background in statutory accounting, can build relationships with cross-functional teams, contribute to the finance team and consistently produces exceptional results.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a finance background, the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams, contribute to the finance team and consistently produce exceptional results. This role is ideal for a person with a strong technical accounting background, good analytical skills and an ability to drive projects through to completion. The critical components are energy and intellect, combined with a “can do” attitude.
Role & Responsibilities
  • Performs complex accounting activities (e.g., sub-ledger accounting [SLA] and high level financial statements) in accordance with accounting principles and standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and reporting requirements
  • Responsible for analyzing and exercising judgment on financial performance and complex issues
  • Independently determines complexity of issues, escalates and makes recommendations to leadership
  • Assists with the implementation of process improvements
  • Supports SOX compliance and assisting with control improvements
  • Supports the business partner relationship and applies a client-service mentality towards all deliverables
  • Supports relationship with external and internal auditors
  • Ability to research, interpret and apply accounting guidance, e.g., GAAP, to provide the appropriate accounting treatment to financial statements and ensure consistent application and adherence to accounting policies
All About You
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Qualified Accountant (ACA, AMCA, ACCA)
  • Experience managing components of larger projects
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations for training events and/or business discussions
  • Experience working with colleagues from other business units and markets
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements and financial reporting requirements and consistently delivers accurate work on a timely basis
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing work for appropriate accounting treatment
  • Experience implementing and suggesting process improvements
  • Experience performing basic issue resolution; gains exposure to the resolution of complex issues
  • Experience executing controls and assessing their effectiveness, makes recommendations to improve upon areas of concern
  • Proactively builds relationships with business partners
  • May produce and review internal and external reports with a moderate level of complexity to ensure compliance
  • Advanced MS Excel skills essential
  • Experience in statutory reporting with IFRS and US GAAP experience
  • Oracle/Hyperion skills beneficial
