Senior Product Designer, AWS CX Design

Amazon Web Services•Published 18 hours ago•First seen 1 hours ago
AWS Customer Experience (CX) Design is seeking a Senior Product Designer to shape connected experiences across some of AWS’s most foundational customer journeys. Our organization supports a broad set of areas, including compute, systems management, messaging, and backup. This role is not dedicated to a single AWS service. Instead, you will work across products and teams to make complex cloud experiences feel coherent, intuitive, and trustworthy.

AWS customers often accomplish one goal through multiple services, interfaces, and stages of the cloud lifecycle. You will identify where those journeys break down, frame opportunities that individual product teams may not see, and lead design work that improves the experience across organizational and technical boundaries.

This is an individual contributor role for a hands-on designer who operates strategically and tactically. You will lead ambiguous initiatives from early problem framing through launch and post-launch refinement, using customer evidence, systems thinking, prototyping, and strong product judgment to define and deliver a clear direction.

This role also requires strong AI proficiency as part of modern design practice. You will direct AI-assisted tools to accelerate exploration, synthesis, prototyping, documentation, and iteration while applying human judgment to ensure the work remains grounded in customer needs, accessibility, strategic intent, and a high standard of craft.

Key job responsibilities
Lead design for complex customer problems that span multiple products, workflows, or technical systems. Frame the problem as well as the solution, identify risks and dependencies, and help teams converge on a clear direction.
Map end-to-end customer journeys across discovery, configuration, integration, operations, governance, troubleshooting, and recovery. Identify where experiences fragment across products and define opportunities to improve continuity.
Translate customer needs, business goals, technical constraints, and competitive signals into an actionable experience strategy, then carry the work through interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, launch, and post-launch iteration.
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to understand architecture, dependencies, scaling factors, and edge cases. Influence terminology, workflows, defaults, APIs, and abstractions when they affect the customer experience.
Use research, usability findings, behavioral data, support signals, and product metrics to clarify priorities, evaluate tradeoffs, validate concepts, and improve shipped experiences.
Apply AI proficiency throughout the design practice to accelerate synthesis, exploration, prototyping, documentation, and analysis. Evaluate and refine AI-generated outputs while maintaining accountability for customer relevance, accessibility, and quality.
Present clear recommendations to senior leaders and cross-functional partners, explain tradeoffs, and build alignment across teams with different priorities and constraints.
Establish reusable interaction models, frameworks, and standards that improve coherence across AWS experiences. Mentor designers, lead design workstreams, and develop approaches that help other teams work faster without lowering the quality bar.

About the team
AWS Customer Experience Design works across products and organizations to make complex cloud experiences more coherent, intuitive, and trustworthy. We do not approach the customer experience as a collection of isolated services.

Our work starts with the outcomes customers are trying to achieve across the cloud lifecycle. We look across consoles, APIs, SDKs, CLIs, documentation, support interactions, and operational workflows to identify systemic friction and opportunities that individual product teams may not see.

We value designers who combine strong craft with systems thinking, customer evidence, technical curiosity, clear recommendations, and a willingness to remain hands-on through delivery. We also expect designers to help others succeed by sharing methods, mentoring colleagues, and creating reusable approaches that strengthen the broader CX Design organization.
