Senior Principal Oracle Health Systems Engineer – HIE

Seeking a highly experienced Senior Principal Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, operation, maintenance, optimization, and strategic evolution of Health Information Exchange (HIE) platforms and supporting infrastructure. The role is responsible for ensuring reliable data exchange, interface performance, system availability, interoperability compliance, and operational support across healthcare organizations and connected systems.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $103,000 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor system health, performance, availability, and uptime to ensure reliable exchange services.
  • Troubleshoot interface errors, message failures, data quality issues, and interoperability challenges.
  • Support system cloud migrations, upgrades, patching, configuration changes, maintenance activities, and production deployments.
  • Support healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, CCD/C-CDA, FHIR, and related healthcare messaging frameworks.
  • Assist with onboarding new HIE participants, interfaces, and external system connections.
  • Validate inbound and outbound data feeds to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Coordinate interface testing, deployment activities, and production readiness validation.
  • Partner with senior engineering resources to ensure operational continuity, knowledge transfer, and backup support coverage.
  • Collaborate with data, security, infrastructure, and application teams to maintain secure and compliant data exchange environments.
  • Support operational reporting, documentation, audit requirements, and contracted service deliverables.
  • Provide production support and issue resolution for HIE-related systems and integrations.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 8 to 12+ years of experience supporting Health Information Exchange (HIE), healthcare integration, interoperability, or healthcare technology platforms.
  • Experience supporting production healthcare applications, interfaces, and data exchange environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting system, interface, and integration-related issues.

Oracle Health & Healthcare Knowledge

  • Understanding of Oracle Health Millennium architecture and healthcare workflows.
  • Experience working with healthcare interoperability and data exchange solutions.
  • Knowledge of iBus, clinical, operational, and healthcare information systems.

Technical Skills

  • HL7, CCD/C-CDA, FHIR, and healthcare interoperability standards.
  • Interface monitoring, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • System administration, production support, and operational monitoring.
  • Infrastructure support and system performance monitoring.
  • Data exchange validation, testing, and deployment support.
  • Understanding of healthcare integration architecture and secure data exchange practices.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in operational healthcare environments.

  • Oracle Health Millennium migration experience.
  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience.
  • Healthcare SaaS migration experience.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Citrix certification.
  • Cloud certification (OCI, Azure, or AWS).
  • Experience supporting acute care, ambulatory, and revenue cycle environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Health Information Exchange (HIE) platforms.
  • Experience with healthcare integration engines and interoperability solutions.

Preferred Millennium Domain Experience

  • PowerChart, FirstNet, SurgiNet, Pharmacy, PathNet, RadNet, Revenue Cycle, Scheduling, MPages, Discern Rules, Discern Explorer (CCL), HealtheIntent, Interoperability Platforms.
