Senior Platform Software Engineer

The DevOps Portal Experience team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to improve how OCI engineers build, deploy, and operate cloud services. Your work will directly improve developer productivity and the reliability of tools that engineers depend on every day.

Our team builds and owns tools spanning the full software lifecycle—from code generation and global deployment coordination to operating and debugging highly available distributed systems. Our applications combine React and TypeScript frontends with backend services and APIs. In this role, you will own features end to end, build scalable and reliable services, and create intuitive user experiences. You will collaborate with experienced engineers on technical design and support junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

OCI provides the compute, storage, networking, database, and security services that organizations worldwide use to run their businesses. By improving the tools behind these services, you will help OCI engineers deliver and operate the cloud infrastructure our customers rely on.

About you:

• You take ownership and navigate ambiguity, turning loosely defined requirements into practical solutions and driving projects through delivery.
• You have strong backend engineering fundamentals and experience building services and APIs and experience building modern web applications with JavaScript or TypeScript.
• You build with reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability in mind, and are comfortable troubleshooting issues across the application stack.
• You communicate clearly, explain technical tradeoffs, and collaborate effectively with engineers and stakeholders.
• You start with the user’s needs and build useful, intuitive software that solves real problems.
• You contribute thoughtful code reviews, share knowledge, and support the growth of less experienced engineers.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $92,500 to $209,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Responsibilities

Required qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing backend services and RESTful APIs using Java, Go, or C#.
• 3+ years of experience developing web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and networking.
• Ability to independently own complex features from design through delivery, manage competing priorities, and support junior engineers in meeting commitments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and work effectively across teams.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience building production services with Java frameworks such as Spring Boot, Helidon, or Dropwizard.
• Experience building interactive web applications with React or another modern JavaScript framework.
• Proficiency with modern JavaScript features and development practices (ES6+).
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with functional programming concepts and their practical application.
• Experience developing, deploying, or operating applications on cloud platforms.
