Description and Requirements
Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and business minded Paralegal to provide comprehensive support to Legal leadership and the Legal team. This role will play an important part in driving key legal projects, supporting corporate level initiatives, conducting legal research, facilitating cross functional collaboration, and enhancing the efficiency of Legal operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong legal research capabilities, solid project management and stakeholder coordination skills, and the ability to analyze complex legal and business matters in a structured manner, distill key information, and translate it into actionable recommendations and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Research and Regulatory Support
Conduct research and information gathering on applicable laws and regulations, regulatory policies, industry rules, and other legal topics based on the needs of the Legal team and the business and monitor significant legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Company’s operations. Review and conduct preliminary analysis of applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and policy documents; identify key requirements, potential business implications, and areas requiring attention; and assist in preparing legal research summaries, regulatory updates, topic specific analyses, and internal briefing materials. Conduct ad hoc research on specific legal issues in connection with projects or business needs, including gathering and organizing relevant facts, legal authorities, regulatory guidance, and background information. Under the guidance of the Legal team, help translate legal and regulatory requirements into clear and practical internal guidance or business-facing materials.
2. Key Project Support
Provide execution and coordination support for key Legal projects and cross functional initiatives, including assisting with the development and maintenance of project plans, deliverables, and action item tracking mechanisms. Monitor the progress of major projects and key action items, proactively follow up with relevant owners and stakeholders, identify potential delays, dependencies, unresolved issues, and other matters that may affect project execution, and escalate or report such matters as appropriate. Prepare meeting minutes for key projects, document key decisions and follow up actions, and track agreed action items through completion.
3. Legal Team Effectiveness and Operations Support
Support the Legal Leadership and the Legal team with day to day management and operational activities, including preparation for management meetings, business reviews, annual planning, and other relevant matters. Assist in periodically reviewing and consolidating key priorities, significant legal matters, and project progress, and prepare work reports, project updates, or management briefings to support the Head of Legal in work planning, resource allocation, and prioritization. Assist in maintaining Legal team systems, databases, and working platforms, and support the adoption and optimization of AI tools and other productivity enhancing solutions as needed. Assist in tracking external legal service fees and other Legal department expenditures, including law firm invoices, project budgets, and actual spend, and prepare relevant data summaries and management reports as required.
Qualifications
1. Educational background in law, with a solid foundation in legal principles. PRC Legal Professional Qualification is preferred.
2. Relevant legal work experience, with prior experience in an in house Legal team, Compliance, Legal Operations, or project support role preferred.
3. Strong legal research, regulatory research, and information analysis skills, with the ability to quickly understand new legal, regulatory, and business topics and synthesize relevant information in a clear and structured manner.
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to use English effectively for legal research, document review, email communication, and preparation of work materials.
5. Good project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, set appropriate priorities, and effectively track timelines, deliverables, and follow-up actions.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Experience with legal technology tools, knowledge management systems, project management tools, or generative AI tools is preferred.
7. Good understanding of, or strong interest in, corporate business operations, with the ability to approach issues from both legal and business perspectives and support effective collaboration between the Legal team and business functions.
