Senior Motion Designer II : Real-Time UI & Broadcast Motion

EA SPORTS • American Football
 Reports to: XD Director
 Experience: Senior (10–15+ years)

EA SPORTS is looking for a Senior Motion Designer to define and build scalable, real-time motion experiences for our American Football titles. This senior, hands-on role combines exceptional motion design craft with deep Unreal Engine implementation, creating modular UI motion systems, broadcast graphics, celebration moments, and authoring tools that can scale across the game.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and implement high-quality UI motion, broadcast graphics, transitions, feedback, and celebration experiences directly in Unreal Engine.
  • Build modular, reusable, and extensible motion systems that support multiple modes, teams, features, content types, and presentation contexts.
  • Develop scalable authoring tools, templates, and data-driven workflows that enable designers and content creators to build customized and user-generated experiences without bespoke engineering support.
  • Translate Figma mocks, animatics, and visual targets into production-ready, engine-native motion with strong pacing, hierarchy, readability, and emotional impact.
  • Partner with UI/UX, engineering, technical art, VFX, and art direction to ensure solutions are visually expressive, technically maintainable, and performant at runtime.
  • Collaborate to establish motion patterns, implementation standards, and best practices that create a consistent motion language while allowing the experience to grow over time.
  • Provide senior-level craft guidance, feedback, and problem-solving across both motion design and real-time implementation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10–15+ years of technical motion design experience across games, interactive media, broadcast, film, television, or high-end digital products.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Unreal Engine, After Effects, and Cinema 4D, with the ability to move confidently between concept, animation, technical implementation, and final in-engine delivery.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Unreal workflows such as UMG, Common UI, Sequencer, Blueprints, animation curves, materials, and data-driven content systems.
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional motion design fundamentals, including timing, rhythm, composition, typography, transitions, hierarchy, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience building systemic, modular, and reusable solutions, rather than relying exclusively on one-off animations or pre-rendered assets.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX, broadcast design, accessibility, and player comprehension, with the judgment to balance spectacle, clarity, responsiveness, and runtime performance.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to independently drive complex work across creative and technical disciplines.
  • Experience with sports broadcast packages, film or television graphics, title design, or fictional user interface design, FUI, is a strong bonus.

What Success Looks Like:

  • The game delivers a cohesive, premium motion language across UI, broadcast graphics, celebrations, and real-time presentation.
  • Motion systems are performant, scalable, modular, and easy for other teams to author, extend, and maintain.
  • Content creators can produce varied, context-aware experiences through established tools and templates rather than rebuilding solutions from scratch.
  • Screens and presentation moments feel polished, responsive, readable, and emotionally rewarding.
  • You raise the quality of both the motion design craft and the real-time systems used to deliver it.
