Senior Finance Analyst, US Non-Sort Operations Finance

Amazon•Published 22 hours ago•First seen 48 minutes ago
Are you energized by turning complex data into clear financial recommendations? Amazon's US Non-Sort Finance team is looking for a Financial Analyst to support inventory placement economics across our fulfillment network. You will build and own the cost and profitability models behind cross-dock placement decisions, deliver recurring reporting that tracks performance against plan, and partner with operations teams to quantify the financial impact of process improvements.

Inbound inventory reaches the US Non-Sort fulfillment network through three cross-dock options: first-party Non-Sort Inbound Cross-Docks (NSXD), third-party cross-docks operated through Amazon Global Logistics (AGL), and Under-the-Roof cross-docks co-located inside Fulfillment Centers. Each option carries its own cost structure, and the decision about where inventory gets placed drives both cross-dock cost and downstream transportation cost. This team owns the profitability framework behind those placement decisions and the data foundation that framework runs on.

Key job responsibilities
  • Build and maintain cost and profitability models in Excel for first-party, third-party, and co-located cross-dock options, ensuring data definitions and inputs are reliable enough to support placement decisions.
  • Own recurring placement economics reporting, tracking Variable Cost Per Unit (VCPU) and total cost to serve against plan, and surface the drivers behind each variance.
  • Partner with site and operations teams on cost reduction execution, quantifying the financial impact of process changes and facility investments and validating results after implementation.
  • Support fee structure and ShipCOGS recovery analysis, building financial models that inform how placement is priced and where downstream savings are captured.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve financial processes, audit your own work and cross-team inputs for accuracy, and share findings with partners to drive data-informed decisions.
A day in the life
You start by reviewing overnight data refreshes and checking your Excel-based financial models for any cost variances across the three cross-dock options. Mid-morning, you join a working session with site finance partners to walk through a proposed process change and pressure-test the savings estimate you built. After lunch you might deep-dive into a VCPU trend that moved off plan, trace it to a root cause, and draft a concise summary for leadership review. Throughout the day you balance recurring reporting with ad-hoc analysis requests, always looking for ways to sharpen the data or simplify a workflow.

About the team
This role sits within US Non-Sort Finance and partners across Operations, Amazon Global Logistics, Fulfillment by Amazon fee teams, and site leadership. Placement economics is a framework being built now, so the models, definitions, and reporting you create become how the network measures itself. The work feeds recommendations that senior leaders act on, giving this seat meaningful visibility and room to grow into broader ownership of a full cross-dock option's financial performance.
