Senior Executive – Commissioning

Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Executive – Commissioning with 3–5 years of experience in the design and commissioning of Drives and PLC solutions for crane applications. The role involves end-to-end technical support, engineering coordination, testing, commissioning, integration, and customer interaction for industrial and port crane projects.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of crane electrical systems, VFDs, PLCs, control systems, and industrial automation, with hands-on exposure to commissioning activities and the ability to coordinate effectively with customers, consultants, vendors, and internal engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support customers and consultants in preparing enquiry specifications from the project inception stage, ensuring required crane performance, functionality, and safety requirements are addressed.
  • Review enquiry specifications, tender documents, contracts, and technical requirements.
  • Prepare engineering inputs, deviation lists, optimized system configurations, detailed BOMs, and control philosophies.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and technical meetings with customers, consultants, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Prepare technical specifications and enquiry documents for bought-out items.
  • Provide accurate technical inputs and specifications to suppliers and vendors.
  • Review, verify, and integrate engineering drawings, documents, datasheets, vendor drawings, and plant engineering documents.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely completion of software development for VFD/Drives, PLC, and Crane Management System (CMS).
  • Prepare software-related documentation, operating manuals, and training documentation.
  • Conduct inspection, FAT, I/O checking, pre-commissioning, final commissioning, endurance testing, and system validation.
  • Carry out on-site and classroom training for customers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with sub-suppliers for commissioning of vendor-supplied equipment and ensure seamless integration with the main crane control system.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support to other commissioning engineers.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, automation, drive, PLC, communication, and control-system issues during commissioning.
  • Ensure satisfactory system performance and successful project handover to the customer.
  • Maintain strong technical and professional relationships with customers, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Candidates with relevant specialization or experience in industrial automation, drives, PLCs, or crane electrical systems will be preferred.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in designing and commissioning Drives and PLC solutions, preferably for crane applications.
  • Hands-on experience in industrial automation and commissioning is required.
  • Experience with crane commissioning will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Basic to good knowledge of VFD/Drive commissioning.
  • Basic to good knowledge of PLC commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of crane electrical and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of crane applications, control philosophy, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to understand electrical/control drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to FAT, I/O checking, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and endurance testing.
  • Understanding of industrial communication and system integration will be an advantage.
  • Ability to coordinate with vendors for integration and commissioning of bought-out systems.
