Senior Electronic Engineer
A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Senior Electronic Engineer on MKS’s Valves Engineering team, you will play a critical technical leadership role within a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment. You will design and develop embedded electronic system that powers advanced throttle valve products used in semiconductor manufacturing and other high-performance vacuum applications.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Participate in design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware used to control vacuum valves.
- Assist with design, debugging and board bring-up of analog and digital real-time embedded electronics for microprocessor-based control and communication hardware platform using combination of simulation, analysis, prototyping and testing
- Assist with design of analog and digital electronic circuits including low noise analog circuits, A/D and D/A converters, microprocessors, communications interfaces, linear and switched-mode power supplies
- Participate in project activities, including DFMEA, design reviews, and creation of technical specifications
- Perform FAs for customers, make a corrective action plan to mitigate design issues and/or work with vendors to resolve component quality issues
- Evaluate the design to meet requirements factoring in performance, cost, reliability and manufacturability
- Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Review vendor capability to support product development
- Understand the printed circuit board fabrication processes
- Communicate technical information effectively in both oral and written form
What will you bring to the team, along with your curiosity:
- Bachelor, Master or PhD in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum five years of relevant experience
- Knowledge and experience in hardware system engineering, which may include product specifications, schematic design, circuit analysis, design for cost & manufacturability, PCB design, documentation, test plan development and release to production
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
- Experience with integration of hardware designs with both mechanical elements and embedded firmware
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with SPI, I2C, UART and other communication protocols.
- Experience with motion control systems, including stepper motors and BLDC motors.
- Understanding of feedback control theory, including PID control and tuning.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: $101,675.00 - $169,475.00 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
