Senior Data Architect
Create a better #TomorrowWithUs 🚀
At Siemens, we build technology solutions to shape the world we live in. We transform industries and societies by combining the real and digital worlds. With over 300.000 of the world’s most forward-thinking minds and the power of a presence in more than 190 countries, we make a truly global impact.
Within the Data Domain Operations, we believe that trusted, high-performance, and real-time data is the foundation of operational excellence. We aren't looking for a traditional database administrator; we are seeking a visionary Senior Data Architect who will design and orchestrate our modern, cloud-native data architecture. This role is at the center of our data transformation, making data-driven operations a reality at global scale.
Move the world from behind the scenes with your IT expertise and passion for game-changing information technology. Rethink how we model and stream data, steering our core systems in completely new directions. Be bold when others would have given up. In short, play a key role in driving digitalization forward!
Welcome to our world!
Are you ready to be part of the change? Come join us! ⭐
Your mission will be…
- Establish Data Product Thinking: Champion data-as-a-product across the domain, designing reusable data architectures, data contracts, and semantic layers that treat data assets as reliable, consumer-grade products with strict SLAs.
- Drive Shift-Left Data Engineering: Implement "shift-left" principles by embedding data quality, telemetry and validation controls directly at the source systems (OLTP), ensuring clean, reliable, and well-governed data flows into our operational and analytical platforms.
- Architect Hybrid OLTP & OLAP Environments: Design high-performance database solutions that seamlessly bridge transactional operational databases (OLTP) and analytical warehouses (OLAP) to support real-time reporting and predictive analytics.
- Design Real-Time Streaming Architectures: Build and maintain scalable, low-latency streaming pipelines (using technologies such as Kafka or Flink) to process continuous event streams and enable real-time operational decision-making.
- Modernize the Data Stack (Snowflake & Cloud-Native): Architect and optimize robust, secure, and cost-effective cloud-native data platforms, leveraging Snowflake, DBT, and cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Automate with DataOps Mindset: Standardize and implement production-ready CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to accelerate development lifecycles and increase deployment reliability.
- Consult & Mentor: Serve as a trusted advisor and technical mentor to data teams across Siemens, advocating for engineering best practices, conducting code reviews, and hosting knowledge-sharing sessions.
We are looking for someone with…
- Education: University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Senior Professional Experience: 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data modeling, and enterprise data architecture, with a proven track record of designing large-scale production architectures.
- Cloud & Warehouse Mastery: Strong expertise in cloud-native technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and advanced optimization of modern cloud warehouses like Snowflake and engineering tools like DBT.
- Streaming & Real-Time Processing: Hands-on experience with streaming architectures, event-driven pipelines, and real-time data processing engines.
- Data Modeling & Architecture: Expert-level knowledge of modern data modeling methodologies (such as Data Vault 2.0, Dimensional Modeling, Kimball, or Inmon) across both OLTP and OLAP environments.
- Programming & Engineering: Advanced programming proficiency in SQL and Python, along with extensive experience with modern DevOps and DataOps toolchains (Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication, consulting, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex architectural concepts into clear business outcomes for non-technical audiences.
- Languages: Fluency in English (verbal and written); knowledge of German or other languages is a plus.
What We Offer
FTE:
- Belong & Innovate: Work in diverse teams where every idea matters and innovation grows through collaboration and trust.
- Flexibility that Works: Hybrid model, flexible hours, and a home office budget — because balance fuels performance.
- Health & Well-being: Comprehensive health insurance, mental health support, and active sports communities to keep you feeling your best.
- Grow Without Limits: Access world-class learning platforms, mentoring, and continuous development opportunities.
- Purpose & Perks: Contribute to sustainability and volunteer initiatives, enjoy partner discounts, and take advantage of our convenient shuttle service.
Please attach your CV in English to your application.
