The Procurement Department builds new solutions beyond conventional models in anticipation of future logistics industry changes and product variety increases. Working as one with suppliers and technical departments, it manages costs and delivery timelines. To stably support growth, it develops and executes effective supplier strategies, including regular on-site audits.

Amazon Australia is seeking a senior specialist in procurement for Fulfillment Centers (FC) and Delivery Stations (DS). This position works with each functional leader to coordinate procurement goals with internal and external stakeholders and achieve manageable targets — all to realize Amazon's strength in rapid delivery speed.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include comprehensive involvement from equipment design and installation for both existing and new FC/DS sites, budget creation, ordering, schedule management, cost structure analysis, cost reduction activities, estimate validation, new supplier development, and VA/VE activities.
Develop, execute, and continuously improve procurement strategies for MHE, Storage, and Robotics.
For each Launch Project/Task: manage budget creation, supplier selection, RFQ/RFP preparation, price negotiation, contracting, ordering, delivery schedule management, cost analysis, cost reduction, VA/VE activities, and acceptance inspection — end-to-end.
Build a robust supplier management system in collaboration with GPO and other Global Teams; conduct supplier evaluations to promote supplier growth and establish a strong supply chain network aligned with Amazon's growth strategy.

A day in the life
Partner with domestic and international suppliers to achieve appropriate-cost procurement, expand production capacity, improve flexibility, and manage risk.
Communicate and negotiate with suppliers to achieve quality procurement within short timeframes.
Maximize the scale advantages of global purchasing by leveraging best practices, ideas, and superior suppliers from each region.
Execute supplier procurement strategies supporting company growth (with manager), with continuous post-implementation improvement.
Execute end-to-end processes with manager support: budget creation, supplier selection, RFQ/RFP, contracting, ordering, cost analysis, cost reduction, VA/VE, and acceptance.
Evaluate existing suppliers; partner with domestic/international suppliers for appropriate-cost procurement, capacity expansion, flexibility improvement, and risk management.
Communicate and negotiate with suppliers to achieve quality procurement in short timeframes
Develop new suppliers in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with team members to maximize team capability.

Basic Qualifications

  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement or project management (project procurement experience preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of leading cost reduction initiatives for equipment
  • Experience leading internal/external projects
  • Ability to write documents for Top Management audiences
  • Track record in supplier development and improvement
