Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Scientific Computing Engineer to join our All-Scale Modeling (ASM) team. You will work at the forefront of development, contributing to the creation of differentiating platforms and technologies for products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple customers.
Responsibilities
- Build fast and accurate physics models for hardware development and innovation.
- Optimize C++, CUDA, and Metal kernels for maximum performance and efficiency.
- Document and share findings to influence hardware and software roadmap decisions.
- Collaborate closely with world-class team members across cross-functional engineering groups.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering degree.
- Experience programming in C or C++ for high-performance computing applications.
- Experience with GPU programming using CUDA or Metal.
- Experience implementing at least one of the following numerical methods: Meshing algorithms, FEM, FDM, FVM or modeling physics related to electromagnetics, mechanics, fluid dynamics, or thermal dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years relevant industry experience.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency and advanced optimization skills in writing complex kernels for large-scale physics simulations.
- Deep foundational knowledge and a strong background in building numerical methods or meshing algorithms from scratch, rather than relying solely on off-the-shelf software.
- Highly motivated self-starter with a passion for hardware innovation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively document and present complex findings to influence roadmap decisions.
