As a Robotics Engineer, you will be part of a highly motivated, experienced, and interdisciplinary team driving the development and deployment of advanced robotics and automation solutions across Siemens Energy. You will be responsible for robotic system integration, deployment, navigation, manipulation, perception, industrial automation, and operational optimization that address real-world industrial challenges and support the company's digitalization and automation strategy.

A Snapshot of Your Day

Working closely with software engineers, automation specialists, you will translate business and operational requirements into scalable, production-ready robotic solutions. Your focus will be on ensuring robotic systems are reliable, safe, efficient, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle. Through hands-on engineering, field validation, and continuous improvement, you will help accelerate the adoption of robotics technologies that deliver measurable productivity, quality, and operational benefits across Siemens Energy facilities.

How You’ll Make an Impact (key responsibilities of role)

• Evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify, justify, and prioritize automation and robotics opportunities.

• Establish robotics deployment strategies, operational plans, and technology roadmaps aligned with functional objectives.

• Evaluate and benchmark robotic platforms against business, operational, and safety requirements.

• Define robot selection criteria including payload, reach, accuracy, speed, safety, and lifecycle considerations.

• Deep expertise in actuation and motion hardware (servo, BLDC/stepper, drives, gearboxes, screws, linear, pneumatic, hydraulic) to optimize payload, reach, speed, torque, and precision.

• Specify and integrate transmission components including belts, pulleys, couplings, bearings, slew rings, cams, brakes, clutches, and cable/tendon drives.

• Design mechanical safety systems, guarding, compliant mechanisms, and fail-safe features to meet industrial safety and risk standards.

• Design and evaluate robotic cells, workcells, automation lines, and integrated production workflows.

• Specify end-effectors, tooling, vision, and sensing solutions for industrial use cases.

• Integrate robots using ROS/ROS2, APIs, SDKs, enterprise systems, and cloud-connected platforms.

• Integrate, test, debug, and validate perception, planning, control, and execution modules on physical robot hardware, including offline programming and adaptive control.

What You Bring (required qualification and skill sets)

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting industrial robotic and automation systems in production environments.

• Experience in mechanical design, automation and robotics in an innovation-driven environment.

• Strong knowledge of major robot platforms and ecosystem components.

• Proficiency in CAD software with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong understanding of robot kinematics, manipulation, navigation, localization, perception, motion planning, and safety systems.

• Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, MES, OPC UA, industrial protocols, and factory automation architectures.

• Experience with enterprise and factory-system integration, fleet management, diagnostics, validation, and troubleshooting.

• Deep understanding of safety standards, risk assessment, industrial compliance, and production support of robotic systems.

Good-to-Have Qualifications

• Knowledge of deploying machine vision, robotic perception, and learning-based autonomy platforms.

• Control multi-robot deployments, fleet orchestration, monitoring, updates, and lifecycle management.

• Knowledge of NVIDIA hardware for GPU accelerated workflows and deployments.
