About the Role

Factory is looking for a Revenue Accountant to own revenue recognition and the revenue close as the company scales. This is a foundational role on our accounting team, partnering closely with Accounting, Strategic Finance, and Revenue Operations. You will own ASC 606 revenue recognition across our subscription, committed-use, and usage-based (consumption) billing models, and build the systems, schedules, and controls that make revenue accurate, auditable, and automated.

What you will do and achieve

  • Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 across subscription, committed-use, and usage-based / consumption contracts.

  • Run the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including deferred revenue, unbilled and accrued revenue, and contract asset / liability schedules.

  • Review customer contracts to determine performance obligations, standalone selling price allocations, and revenue treatment.

  • Own billing operations in our billing platform (Orb) — invoicing, credits, commit drawdowns, and usage true-ups.

  • Manage accounts receivable, cash application, and collections in partnership with the broader finance team.

  • Own AR reconciliations and aging analysis, and drive collections.

  • Perform month-end flux and variance analysis on revenue and AR balances, and build AR and collections metrics (DSO, aging) for management reporting.

  • Develop and document revenue policies, internal controls, and repeatable close procedures.

  • Support audit and diligence requests related to revenue, and drive audit readiness.

  • Coordinate sales tax and VAT treatment.

  • Leverage AI and automation across the revenue workflow — from contract review, to revenue recognition, to reconciliations and reporting.

Qualifications

  • 4-7+ years of progressive revenue accounting experience.

  • Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP revenue recognition (ASC 606).

  • Experience with subscription and usage-based / consumption billing models.

  • Hands-on experience with billing and ERP systems (e.g., Orb, Stripe, NetSuite).

  • Strong reconciliation skills and advanced Excel.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to own processes end-to-end.

  • Able to operate independently in a fast-paced, lean environment.

  • Experience applying LLMs and AI automation to finance and accounting workflows.

Strong candidates may also have

  • CPA.

  • Big 4 audit or assurance background.

  • In-house experience at a high-growth SaaS or technology company.

  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics and bookings-to-revenue reconciliation.

  • International / indirect tax (sales tax, VAT) exposure.
