Tesla is seeking a detail-oriented and operationally sharp Fee & Payment Operations Specialist to join our Approvals Operations team. This role sits at the intersection of financial transaction management and regulatory operations. The specialist is responsible for the end-to-end integrity of fee payments, check approvals, and card expense processing that support Tesla's permitting and interconnection programs nationally. The right candidate brings precision to high-volume financial workflows, a comfort with data, and the drive to improve the processes they own.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day processing of permitting and interconnection fee payments, including check approvals, fee disbursements, and expense reconciliation across jurisdictions. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and auditability of all transactions
  • Serve as the operational liaison between Approvals Operations and Finance, Treasury, Accounting, and Card and Expense teams. Coordinate payment workflows, resolve exceptions, and maintain clear documentation standards across all partner teams
  • Audit and true up fee control data across active jurisdictions. Partner with Operations and Policy teams to identify fee discrepancies, flag cost reduction opportunities, and maintain a clean, current dataset that informs permitting and interconnection strategy
  • Lead project planning and implementation for Tesla's online credit card payment platform within the permitting and interconnection workflow. Coordinate with process and technology teams to scope, test, and launch improvements that increase efficiency and reduce manual handling
  • Develop and maintain reporting that tracks transaction volumes, approval turnaround times, fee accuracy rates, and cost metrics. Provide regular updates to operations leadership and flag anomalies proactively

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Operations, Accounting, or a related field
  • Strong attention to financial detail; comfortable owning high-stakes transaction workflows where accuracy is non-negotiable
  • Experience working across finance, treasury, or accounting teams; familiarity with expense management systems and corporate card platforms a plus
  • Data-literate: able to work with fee data in Excel or similar tools to identify discrepancies, run reconciliations, and surface cost insights; Tableau or SQL experience a plus
  • Organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment & embraces process improvement
  • Strong communicator with experience coordinating across teams; able to translate between operational and financial stakeholders
