Regional Security Specialist
Description
Tesla is seeking an engaging and professional security champion to support the ongoing growth of the organization’s security program.
Reporting to the Regional Security Manager, the Regional Security Specialist will manage physical security operations at all Tesla facilities within a defined geographical area of responsibility. The ideal candidate has a bias for action, is trustworthy, and consistently demonstrates excellence. Working with minimal supervision, they will regularly interface with key stakeholders and provide security direction toward continuously reducing security risks at Tesla’s business locations. The position may have direct reports based on the needs of the organization.
This is a regional role based in Fremont, CA and will require 25-35% travel.
Responsibilities
- Practice a customer service mindset in driving a culture of security awareness across the business. Act as the direct location(s) security point of contact for internal and external purposes
- Coordinate with cross-functional business partners to proactively identify, mitigate and manage operational risks
- Coordinate and manage responses to incidents as needed to address threats directed towards any staff, physical assets, or operations
- Manage security spends and drive cost efficiencies to support a financially sustainable security practice including collaboration with team members and managing vendor relationships toward this goal
- Report and analyze all established security metrics, addressing improvement areas. Provide first-line supervision, mentoring and leadership of security staff
- Foster security awareness by preparing, conducting or coordinating security training courses, site risk assessments, or other informational campaigns
- Support initiatives to strengthen external partnerships with local and state law enforcement, federal agencies, third party vendors and community organizations
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in physical security, risk management, loss prevention, emergency preparedness or law enforcement
- Must be able to obtain a security license, hold a valid driver’s license, travel as required and have flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, formal training in verbal de-escalation preferred. Fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus
- Former law enforcement, military, emergency operations highly desired
- Working knowledge and oversight of various security systems and technologies
- Hands-on experience coordinating and leading training events in a corporate setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead emergency operations as well as able to manage stress and respond quickly to security, safety, and sensitive situations

Expected Compensation
$76,000 - $132,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
