Description

You will run regulatory range and energy consumption testing on chassis dynamometers for Tesla's vehicle programs. This 2nd shift role requires precision in executing tests that contribute directly to EPA, CARB, and international certification submissions, with a focus on clean handovers between shifts. 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM; Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Execute dynamometer range tests to regulatory procedures including MCT/SMCT+, road load derivations, UDDS, cold UDDS, SC03, WLTP, CLTC and constant speed highway range
  • Set up vehicles on the dyno including wheelbase, restraint systems, dyno mode, ride height, tire pressures, ballast and UI configuration per market
  • Install and operate test instrumentation such as dual CAN loggers, power analyzers, current clamps, LabVIEW data acquisition and ambient PTH logging
  • Operate environmental chambers from -7 C to 35 C including humidity control and solar load setup
  • Drive test traces manually and operate the drive robot while maintaining tight speed tolerances across long cycles
  • Follow operator checklists exactly, flag discrepancies before starting runs, and document test state, issues and handover notes in Jira
  • Perform high voltage pack swaps, component replacement, alignment and general test vehicle preparation while maintaining dyno cell readiness and equipment condition

Requirements

  • Automotive technician experience or an equivalent hands-on mechanical background
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed written procedures precisely every time
  • Comfort with data acquisition hardware and basic troubleshooting of test equipment and software
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Willingness to obtain high voltage certification if not already held
  • Reliability on shift with strong documentation skills in Jira and Confluence
  • Prior chassis dynamometer experience ideally with AVL or AIP, or familiarity with EPA, CARB, WLTP or CLTC test procedures
  • Familiarity with EPA, CARB, WLTP, or CLTC test procedures
  • CAN bus and data logging experience
  • Tesla Start graduate preferred

Expected Compensation

$24.40 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
