Responsibilities

As an R&D Software Operating Manager, you will lead the software engineering activities providing Connectivity applications and components for Keysight products and industry solutions. The role includes managing a team of software engineers and the processes of producing and supporting software products.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage software engineering teams responsible for Keysight IO Libraries and related Connectivity components.
  • Drive project planning, risk management, dependency tracking, and stakeholder communication throughout the product lifecycle
  • Oversee DevOps and Quality practices and modernization, without direct line reporting, to improve efficiency, quality and product security compliance.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development practices, pursuing increasing value delivery for individuals and for the team as a whole.
  • Manage issue escalation from internal partners and customers, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining high product reliability.
  • Support long-term platform strategy by aligning software capabilities with future architecture and system integration needs.
  • Develop team capability through mentoring, resource planning, and effective workload management across multiple strategic initiatives and various R&D partners.
Qualifications

This role requires an experienced leader in a technical R&D environment. Specific required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in relevant software development.
  • Experience leading R&D efforts in complex system such as test & measurement or similar hardware-intensive environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering complex, multi-disciplinary products end-to-end.
  • Experience working with scrum or other agile methodologies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams where influence without direct authority.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed development teams.
  • Familiarity with system architecture and hardware/software co-design.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).

Preferred background:

  • Experience with IoT, network communications, heterogeneous hardware systems and component software.
  • Background in test & measurement, semiconductor ATE, precision instruments, or defense electronics.
  • Prior direct line management experience.
  • Familiarity with scaled agile frameworks (SAFe or equivalent).
  • Experience establishing or maturing agile processes within an R&D organization.
  • Practical experience with AI productivity tools in a software development workflow.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles in the context of instrument or embedded software.
  • Experience with multiple platforms and operating systems, including multi-platform systems.
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows and issue tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Experience with networking, PICe, USB protocols, and multi-threaded programming is an advantage.
