R&D Software Engineer Intern

As an R&D Software Engineering Intern, you will work directly on the core editing environments that semiconductor designers rely on to create, view, and manipulate complex schematic designs and physical layouts. You will contribute to user interface features and core editing algorithms, gaining hands-on exposure to production-grade Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software.
Responsibilities- Develop and enhance interactive editing tools, graphical canvas components, or schematic/layout manipulation capabilities using C++ and Python.
- Extend and maintain the Python API layer to enable seamless automation, custom extension capabilities, and programmatic data access for users.
- Design and implement intuitive UI/UX features, dialogs, and interactive editing modes using Qt to streamline how users interact with complex graphical designs.
- Debug application issues, write unit/integration tests, and participate in peer code reviews within an agile software engineering workflow.
Required
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a technical discipline with an expected graduation date after Summer 2027.
- Proficiency in core data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical ideas clearly within an engineering team setting.
Preferred
- Proficiency in C++ or Python
- Prior hands-on experience with Qt (C++ or PySide/PyQt) or other desktop GUI frameworks.
- Familiarity with C++/Python bindings (e.g., pybind11).
- Exposure to EDA tools and concepts.
- Familiarity with modern C++ build environments (CMake, Linux/Unix development tools) and Git version control.
The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; most offers will be between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range listed below.
Min $38.31 to Max $41.25
