Summary

Great products aren’t just built — they’re trusted. At Apple, that trust is earned in the moments before launch, when a global Quality Engineering team stands between complexity and the customer experience millions of people rely on every day. Our organization sits at the center of that work: partnering across engineering, product, and business teams worldwide to make sure every release meets the bar Apple is known for.

We’re looking for a leader who sees quality not as a gate, but as a craft — someone who builds teams, not just test plans, and who turns ambiguity into clarity for the people counting on them. If that’s the kind of impact you want to have, read on.

Description

As Manager of the Quality Engineering team in APAC, you will lead a team of Quality Engineers responsible for the thorough preparation and execution of testing activities on cross-functional systems projects and programs, including testing ownership

You will guide and develop a group of QEs while keeping key stakeholders informed on quality status, risk, and readiness — partnering with global Quality Engineering peers to align regional practices with broader organizational standards.

You’re a self-motivated, hands-on, detail-oriented leader with a strong technical background and proven people-management experience. You’re comfortable working across multiple product areas and technology stacks, and you communicate clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders — translating quality signals into information they can act on.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Quality Engineers.
  • Own quality strategy — set direction on test strategy, coverage, and release readiness, adapting as priorities and technology shift.
  • Champion automation adoption across your teams, partnering with peers to keep practices consistent and scaled.
  • Surface risks, tradeoffs, and status to leadership early, with clarity and urgency.
  • Translate quality data into action — build stakeholder trust through insights that shape decisions on readiness and investment.
  • Advocate for your team — hold the line on scope, timelines, and resourcing while finding workable compromises.
  • Navigate ambiguity — make sound calls with incomplete information as requirements and priorities shift.
  • Partner cross-functionally with IS&T, Engineering, and Project/Product Management to embed quality early and align on standards.
  • Plan resources and team structure — balance headcount, skill mix, and workload; close skill gaps, including automation depth.
  • Manage prioritization and vendor capacity — balance global/regional commitments against bandwidth, including vendor tester retention decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering/Quality Assurance, including 2+ years of experience in people management or leading multiple teams
  • 5+ years of experience working with geographically distributed teams across different time zones.
  • Working knowledge of test automation frameworks and experience introducing test efficiency practices (e.g., risk-based prioritization, shift-left testing) that reduced cycle time or effort.
  • Experience managing and evaluating vendor/contractor testing resources, including performance and retention decisions.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities, delegating, and establishing operational plans and processes to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience partnering with global teams and development managers to organize testing responsibilities and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated strategic thought leadership, innovation, and effectiveness in influencing others to drive meaningful change with high integrity.
  • Experience helping a QE team grow or adapt through organizational change.
  • Best-in-class written and verbal communication and presentation skills, adaptable to all levels of an organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Quality Assurance certification (ISTQB, ASQ, etc.) and/or PMI certification.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Swift, etc.).
