The RDM team create and care for Apple Stores that look, feel, and function as beautifully as our products. We do this by obsessing over the employee and customer experience, and driving a global strategy that sets the bar.

The Retail Technology China team is responsible for the end-to-end digital app and hardware experience in Apple Retail China stores, including all aspects of the customer and employee experience. As a QA Lead on this team, you'll be an integral member of the implementation team alongside product management, business stakeholders, and development teams, ensuring our Retail applications satisfy the needs of the business and the end user across China's stores.

Description

You'll manage the user acceptance testing (UAT) process to ensure the business receives acceptable software that supports business requirements, and support planning and execution of production validation testing (PVT) as systems release to end users. You'll accurately assess and quantify the business, technical, and regulatory risks associated with the software and systems being tested — including ensuring compliance with China's data privacy and security requirements — and analyze, plan, and communicate test strategies and progress to multiple constituencies. This role requires someone who can synthesize large amounts of complex information, pay attention to detail, and manage multiple concurrent initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multinational teams of subject matter experts (SMEs) from Apple Retail Stores who execute tests designed and planned by the QA Lead, including tester recruitment, engagement, and day-to-day testing operations during UAT and PVT. Serve as a liaison between the Shanghai team and global/APAC stakeholders on China testing initiatives
  • Define, document, and communicate test plans and test cases — including automated test coverage — that thoroughly validate the product and reveal potential defects, based on requirement and design review sessions. Assess and communicate product quality at key milestones to project leaders, development teams, and Retail leadership
  • Validate compliance with China's data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements as part of test planning and execution, partnering with Legal/Privacy and Engineering to close gaps. Clearly document and track defects to engineering partners, striving for stability and quality across our retail systems
  • Advance test automation coverage and frameworks/tooling to improve release velocity and reduce regression risk. Influence and direct project teams to follow standardized, defined processes, recognizing process-driven problems and taking corrective action

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years working directly with Retail-focused systems (e.g., Point of Sale, Inventory Management, Logistics, Help Desk, Customer Management, Customer Support)
  • Experience with test automation frameworks/tooling and building automated regression coverage
  • Experience validating software against data privacy, security, or regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and influence cross-functional team members. Detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills; outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with China's data privacy and regulatory compliance landscape (e.g., PIPL)
  • Experience supporting peers on system deployments and business process re-engineering initiatives
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, prioritize projects under deadlines, and change course based on business or environmental conditions
  • Demonstrated problem solving, time management, and analytical skills
  • Awareness of different software development models
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for test generation, defect triage, or test management
  • Familiarity with SAP Retail systems
  • Experience working in the Retailing industry
