We believe exceptional companies are built by exceptional teams, and we're intentional about it. That means hiring great people, setting them up for success from day one, and giving them real reasons to grow their careers here. We invest in development that goes beyond promotions, and we foster the trust and relationships that help people do their best work together.
What's the role?
The Strategy and Operations Coordinator keeps the Buyer Experience organization running smoothly, aligned, and connected. This role owns how the group operates: how teams stay informed, how leaders prepare and decide, and how cross-functional work moves forward. The coordinator drives how objectives get done, connects people and information across the org, and keeps work moving when it stalls. The role does not own strategy, but it directly influences how leadership shapes strategy and how organization collaborates to deliver it.
This is a full-time position reporting to the VP, Engineering, Buyer Experience, and directly supporting both the VP, Engineering and the VP, Product, Buyer Experience. The role also partners closely with the head of Design, Analytics & Research to run the organization.
What's this team like at Etsy?
Buyer Experience (BuyerX) is the group responsible for how buyers discover, evaluate, and purchase on Etsy, whether they arrive through the website and apps or find us through search engines, social media, and other platforms. It is a large, fast-moving organization with many leaders, forums, and cross-company dependencies. The Coordinator is a trusted operational partner to BuyerX leadership from day one, expected to propose better ways of working, not just maintain the current ones.
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Operating rhythms and process design: Own the design and continuous improvement of processes, tools, and operating rhythms across the BuyerX Group. Test assumptions, and redesign or retire cadences so the team has clarity on what's happening, what's expected, and when.
- Planning and reporting: Represent BuyerX in company-wide processes (e.g., SFP planning, goal-setting, CEO and org-wide reviews). Independently manage inputs, content, and deadlines across leads, anticipate dependencies, and escalate early when something is at risk.
- Communications and event operations: Draft and manage internal communications (e.g., newsletters, org updates, all-hands content, presentations). Summarize the outcomes of leadership discussions and share them back with stakeholders so decisions land and stick.
- Keep distribution lists, Slack channels, and other communication pathways accurate, reflecting new hires, exits, and org adjustments.
- Plan and execute team events, offsites, and department-wide gatherings in partnership with Buyer leads and key stakeholders, owning format, agenda, and logistics.
- Program management: Lead priority cross-functional programs end to end with minimal direction, from defining the approach to driving completion, and keep work moving through obstacles.
- Strategic operational support: Prepare leaders for meetings and events with materials, agendas, and logistics, and prioritize on their behalf using a deep understanding of team and business goals. Partner with Coordinators, Program Managers, and Executive Assistants across Etsy.
- Represent BuyerX leaders with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in internal and external interactions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on how BuyerX and Etsy are organized. Build trust across all layers of the group, track cross-group dependencies, and proactively bring challenges, opportunities, and recommendations to BuyerX leadership.
- Own operational enablers such as L&D tracking, expense reports, and budget elements, improving the systems behind them.
- Administrative support for the VP, Engineering & VP, Product: manage calendar, travel, and other scheduling, as needed.
- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
- Proven ability to design, refine, and where needed rebuild operating rhythms, processes, and cross-team workflows, with evidence of the results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including synthesizing complex discussions into clear summaries and org-wide communications for a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-stakeholder projects with minimal direction, managing dependencies, and keeping teams aligned on timelines and expectations.
- High emotional intelligence and a track record of building trust, maintaining discretion, and speaking up constructively across all levels of an organization.
- Sound judgment in prioritizing on behalf of senior leaders and knowing when to decide and when to escalate.
- Experience providing administrative and logistical support to senior leaders, including scheduling, meeting prep, and event coordination.
