Production Supervisor, Castings, Melt Center
Description
Production Supervisor is the front-line leader of the Castings Production Team.
The Production Supervisor in the Melt Center is responsible for clearly communicating the Safety, People, Quality, Rate and Cost goals and expectations of the department to the Team, coach & mentor the Furnace Technicians, motivate the Team to reach higher and solve problems to achieve business objectives. The ideal candidate will not accept status quo and constantly look for ways to eliminate waste and drive continuous improvement of processes and procedures. Must have a strong background in the metal industry preferably in a Cast House or Foundry role. The ability to work cross functionally with engineering, quality, maintenance, and management on a wide variety of issues and corrective actions identified is necessary. Strong interpersonal, communication, problem solving skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Tesla.
The successful candidate for this position is hands-on, a dynamic people leader who embraces change, passionate about manufacturing, has strong analytical abilities, organization skills, attention to detail and decision-making ability in an ambiguous environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective supervision and coaching to Furnace Technicians to achieve the required quality and production goals. Maintain department records and inventories
- Manage the movement of product through the Melt Center and production areas
- Plan and organize operations from incoming raw material to delivery to the next cost center
- Ensure that the standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality
- Monitor to ensure that all employees comply with safety regulations and the plant’s safety program
- Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and to ensure vacations and other time off is consistent with plant policies
- Provide the shift-to-shift communication link to keep all team members working toward the same goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, 2-3 years of Leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, or equivalent
- Experience Supervising 15+ employees
- Previous Cast House, Foundry experience required
- Working knowledge of blending various metal units to archive desired compositions. Previous experience with heavy equipment operation is a plus
- Able to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities, establish and achieve goals
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office a must
