Our Electrical Products business unit in Smart Infrastructure develops low and medium-voltage technology and solutions for power systems.

We are looking for a Spring 2027 (January – June) Production Engineer Co-op as part of the Operations Leadership Development Program with our Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products division. This position is based in Hingham, Massachusetts. 

This co-op will prepare you for a potential opportunity with our two-year rotational Operations Leadership Development Program and other entry-level roles upon graduation.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Monitor and analyze production performance, including output, efficiency, downtime, quality, and labor utilization.
  • Maintain production dashboards, scorecards, and action tracking systems to support daily management.
  • Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Conduct process observations, time studies, bottleneck analyses, and line-balancing studies to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement digital tools that automate manual processes and improve operational visibility and decision-making.
  • Support quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement initiatives through data analysis, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and standardize SOPs (standard operation procedures), visual work instructions, and operational best practices.
  • Manage improvement projects from planning through implementation, tracking results and sustaining improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, safety, and other cross-functional teams to drive operational improvements.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Juniors, Seniors, and graduate students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Industrial Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related majors
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Northeastern University at the time of the co-op
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, reporting, and documentation
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of industrial engineering and Lean manufacturing principles
  • Available to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 7:30 am - 4:15 pm) from January 2027 to June 2027
  • Eligible candidates must have reliable transportation and be located within 50 miles of Hingham, MA as this role does not provide housing or relocation support
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
  • This co-op is a structured experiential learning program for individuals currently enrolled in a degree or certificate program who will continue their studies following the assignment. Current and continuing enrollment is a condition of participation. Applicants who have completed or expect to complete their educational program before or during the assignment period are encouraged to explore our Early Career/ Leadership Development opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing operations, Lean principles, continuous improvement, or production processes.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, process metrics, and basic statistical tools.
  • Applied knowledge of digital tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to analyze processes, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions to improve productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with process mapping, time studies, line balancing, standard work, or waste identification.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across production and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, organize priorities, and drive actions to completion.

You’ll Benefit From
The hourly pay range for this position 30.00 - 33.00 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
