Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the NPI process, including product and process design reviews, and provide manufacturing input to support product and process readiness.
- Support Bill of Materials (BOM) management and work with Supply Chain Management to ensure the timely development and availability of custom parts and assemblies required for NPI and ramp-up.
- Coordinate with Design and cross-functional engineering teams to develop, transfer and implement manufacturing processes for new products, including manufacturing setup, process validation, operator training, and production readiness. Ensure processes are capable, repeatable and suitable for volume production.
- Troubleshoot product, process, and yield issues and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations to identify root causes and implement effective solutions for yield, quality, cost, and manufacturing issues.
- Drive yield improvement and process stabilization during NPI and ramp-up by analyzing production data, identifying failure modes and process variation, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor manufacturing performance during NPI and ramp-up and drive improvements in quality, yield, cycle time, capacity, process efficiency and cost to achieve production readiness before transition to mass-production phase.
Key Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or higher in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in product development, NPI, manufacturing process development, product transfer, or production engineering
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure and deal with conflicting priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization across local and international locations
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills, with familiarity with statistical analysis, process capability and process control
- Knowledge of DFM, PFMEA, process validation, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of assembly processes, test methods, equipment capabilities, reliability, and/or fundamental material properties, including mechanical behavior, is preferred
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers is preferred
- Experience in telecommunications or optical products such as fiber optic line card, module and/or component, would be considered an asset
