Description

The Producer, Sound & Voice is a senior production leader in Future Design Studio who helps shape how the next generation of Reality Labs products sound, speak, and feel. Operating across the studio's portfolio, this role sets the sonic production strategy, identifies capabilities the studio will need before programs exist, and turns an emerging creative vision into coherent experiences across hardware, software, and AI. The producer partners with design leadership, Creative Audio, Product, Engineering, Research, Brand, and external talent to help structure how sound and voice work gets done and to champion it across Reality Labs. They help establish the roadmap, operating model, and quality bar, and guide the work from early exploration through launch. This is the right role for a discipline-leading producer who can align senior leaders around choices involving craft, technology, resources, rights, and risk. Success means more than shipping individual programs: it means creating the systems, talent ecosystem, and shared standards that allow sound and voice to become a defining design material across Reality Labs.

Responsibilities

Define the multi-year sound and voice production strategy for Future Design Studio, translating product and design ambition into priorities, investment areas, capability plans, and an executable roadmap across the portfolio Partner with design leadership to help shape the sonic point of view for future products and experiences, including interaction sound, voice, music, spatial audio, and audio synchronized with motion and haptics. Help ensure the work forms a distinctive and coherent system rather than a collection of assets Own the production strategy, scope, resource model, budget, dependencies, milestones, and path to launch for sound and voice initiatives across hardware, software, and AI programs Manage all phases of voice production across experiences, from casting, production, implementation, and deployment through ongoing quality control, in partnership with design and voice leads. Stay at the forefront of emerging voice and AI audio technology, and bring that knowledge into how the studio produces voice Help navigate complex tradeoffs where creative intent, product strategy, technical constraints, timing, rights, and risk intersect, and help build alignment among senior Design, Product, Engineering, Research, and business leaders Coordinate the production capabilities the studio needs, and plan ahead for new ones, across rapid sonic prototyping, spatial and embodied audio workflows, AI-assisted production, voice evaluation, device testing, localization, asset systems, and quality assurance Develop a high-caliber external talent ecosystem spanning voice directors, performers, studios, agencies, and emerging-technology partners. Establish the standards for selection, briefing, collaboration, and delivery Influence portfolio planning and resource allocation by making clear recommendations on priorities, staffing, budgets, vendor strategy, and tradeoffs. Surface systemic risks early and create durable solutions rather than program-by-program fixes Partner with Legal, Business Affairs, Privacy, Policy, and Responsible Innovation to define responsible practices for music and voice rights, performer consent, provenance, data use, synthetic voice, and AI-generated audio Raise the capability of the organization by mentoring other producers and creative leads, codifying best practices, and building a culture where creative ambition, operational rigor, and responsible innovation reinforce one another

Qualifications

10+ years of audio, sound, voice, music, or multidisciplinary creative production experience, with demonstrated progression in strategic scope, organizational influence, and creative leadership Track record of defining production strategy and leading multiple complex, zero-to-one initiatives across teams or organizations Experience with the full audio production lifecycle: creative development, casting, recording, editing, sound design, composition, mixing, mastering, implementation, localization, and quality assurance Experience in voice and performance production, with the ability to evaluate talent, direct performances, define voice systems, and protect performer integrity and product intent Knowledge of emerging voice and audio AI technologies, such as synthetic voice and generative audio, and how they are reshaping production Experience building new production systems, creative capabilities, operating models, or standards that improved quality and execution across a portfolio Experience creating or using tools that simplify workstreams and coordinate efforts cross-functionally Experience resolving complex cross-functional conflicts and influencing senior leaders on creative direction, technical tradeoffs, prioritization, resources, rights, and risk Experience managing significant budgets, vendors, contracts, rights, schedules, and multidisciplinary internal and external teams Executive communication and narrative skills, with the ability to turn subjective creative choices and ambiguous futures into clear strategy, decisions, and action Global network across sound, music, and voice talent, studios, agencies, and production partners Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) Evidence of industry thought leadership through influential shipped work, awards, writing, or the development of widely adopted practices Experience applying responsible practices for consent, provenance, safety, and evaluation in conversational AI, synthetic voice, voice cloning, or generative audio Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies Knowledge of spatial and immersive audio, room and device acoustics, haptics integration, and constrained playback systems Understanding of modern audio and interactive production tools and workflows, such as Pro Tools or Logic, Wwise or FMOD, Unity or Unreal, and rapid prototyping environments Experience producing a sonic identity or product sound system and coordinating its rollout across multiple products, platforms, or organizations Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews) Experience developing and improving workflows using generative AI systems Experience producing globally across languages and cultures, including localization strategy, multilingual voice, cultural adaptation, and accessible audio experiences Experience producing and coordinating sound and voice work for premium consumer technology, wearables, AR/VR, AI assistants, spatial computing, or other emerging interfaces
