Process Engineer (PE) Intern

Established in 1987 and headquartered in Taiwan, TSMC pioneered the pure-play foundry business model with an exclusive focus on manufacturing its customers’ products. As of 2024, TSMC serves more than 500 customers and manufactures over 11,000 products for high-performance computing, smartphones, the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive, and digital consumer electronics. It is the world’s largest provider of logic ICs, with an annual capacity of over 17 million 12-inch equivalent wafers in 2025. TSMC operates fabs in Taiwan as well as manufacturing subsidiaries in Washington State, Japan and China, and the Company began construction on a specialty technology fab in Dresden, Germany, in 2024. In Arizona, TSMC is building three fabs, with the first starting 4nm production in 2025, the second by 2028, and the third by the end of the decade.

Job Responsibilities

1. Learn to develop new technology processes and qualifications to meet mass manufacturing requirements.

2. Identify process weaknesses and manufacturing tool issues using big data and various analytical methods.

3. Drive device and yield performance through the design, execution, and analysis of experiments for specific products.

4. Collaborate with various engineering teams (e.g., device, integration, yield, lithography, etch, thin films) and external suppliers to maintain process stability and provide technical solutions.

Job Qualifications

1. Major in Materials Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Optics. Solid technical understanding of IC processing equipment, integrated flow, chemistry and physics

2. Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE) principles

3. Good communication and interpersonal skills

4. Able to work within cross-functional teams, including internal and external partners

5. Capable of adapting to changing priorities and responsibilities flexibly to support business needs

6. Hands-on participation and a strong sense of ownership

7. Fluent in Mandarin and English
